We are back in style!

We’re back in style!

We had a wonderful day on Saturday 31^st July at Lytham Hall, celebrating the end of a remarkable Choir Year. And…HURRAH! we were also able to perform together again! Thirty – two members of Eccles Community Choir were joined by 15 friends, meeting at the beautiful Lytham Hall, close to the Fylde Coast. We enjoyed an exclusive tour of the hall, which has many beautiful artifacts and architectural features. We discovered the intriguing history of the Clifton family; a story not terribly dissimilar to that of the fictional Brideshead family in the ‘Brideshead Revisited’ novel by Evelyn Waugh.

Next, we gave a brief informal concert on the steps of the Hall (pictured). It was so lovely to sing together again; we all felt extremely emotional. We received excellent feedback on this, the first performance for well over a year. We’re back! Even the pieces we learnt in the isolation of lockdown sounded good! We were also fortunate to encounter a couple of very nice members of Lytham Community Choir – now we have some new musical friends to meet up with again in the future!

After the concert, we received an extremely warm welcome for afternoon tea in the upstairs dining room of the west wing of Lytham Hall; it was scrumptious and the service was excellent. Here, we had the opportunity to formally thank our Musical Director Angela, accompanist John and technical whizz Janet for all the extra hard work they have put in during the pandemic to keep the Choir together and to keep us singing; and to provide us all with opportunities to support each other. They have exceeded all expectations, and we are so lucky to have them. We were also lucky to experience Lytham Hall together! We can highly recommend a visit to Lytham Hall and hope that we may be able to return to sing again near to Christmas. 

But you won’t have to wait till Christmas to see the whole Eccles Community Choir perform again. We have a concert booked right at the beginning of the new Choir year, on Friday 17th September 2021 at Eccles Parish Church M30 0DL, 7.30pm and only £5 admission, please come along, it will be an extremely entertaining evening, suitable for all the family.

If you have always fancied joining a choir, now’s the time! Our first session of the new Choir year will be Tuesday evening 14th September. Eccles Community Choir is a very friendly choir and new members are always welcome, no audition required – it will be lovely to see you!
