Well, our summer concert at Eccles Town Hall on 17th July was a great success. We received lots of positive feedback from a very appreciative audience who told us that we were ‘a first class choir’ and ‘very professional’ with an ‘extremely enjoyable programme’ which included several solos and duets. We all really enjoyed ourselves with this end of term performance. We are pictured below just before the concert began.
In years past, we had quite a long break after the Eccles summer concert until the start of the Autumn term, but this year, the summer will be much busier. The choir is off to Lünen on thursday 30th July for an exciting trip to meet our peers and dignitaries. We will strengthen our ties by sharing our culture and music. We will perfom in our twin town as well as at Cologne Cathedral. The choir worked hard to raise funds to help every member who wants to go to get there. Many weeks of cake sales and a bonus ball draw provided resources to help reduce the overall costs per person. After filling out extensive forms and waiting a very long time, we also are very grateful for the grant of £100 promised to us from the Salford Council Town-twinning fund. We were hoping for the maximum possible grant of £5000 because this is still a rather expensive trip for some of our singers in the community choir and it is a valuable town twinning community activity for many; but every little helps!
We also have some other concerts this summer, taking us seamlessly into the Autumn term, which is already filling up fast:
