We were very privileged to have two VIP visitors at choir practice a little while ago, both teachers from Kenya; we gave a private ‘concert’ just for them, based on the programme from the Spring concert at Eccles Town Hall a few days earlier. They came to visit us because of the help the choir gives to Rowley Projects ( see http://www.rowleyprojects.com), which includes our weekly collection of loose change to pay for ‘school dinners’. This important small gift means that, having walked several miles to get to school, the children can stay at school all day and that they can be sure of at least one decent meal. As well as raising money for the choir and several charities, we sometimes also receive donations for our friends in Kenya at our concerts – Rowley Projects was given a very generous donation after our concert in May at St Cross with St Paul Church, Clayton. It’s great that our pastime helps others.
